Well, it's almost over (it's 9/24). Did you know that on this day, it's really easy to get a broom to balance on it's bristles and stand up?

I thought it was pretty unbelievable, but I've gotten it to work with 3 different brooms today.

For those who may not have heard, Sony announced their new hand-held system last night, calling it the "NGP" or "Next Generation Portable". They didn't mention the name PSP2 at all, but the internet still wants to call it that for the time being.

Anyway, here are some specs, this thing is pretty amazing.

ARM Cortex-A9 (4 core CPU)
SGX543MP4+ GPU for powerful graphic computing power
5" OLED 16 x 9 high resolution screen (960 x 544 pixels)
3G + WIFI + GPS enabled
Dual analog sticks
Front touch screen, rear touch panel
Dual cameras
Bluetooth 2.1
New game media - solid state flash type (looks like an SD card, but it might be slightly different).

From what I've seen in the videos and such, it looks almost equivalent to the PS3 in graphics power, which is quite impressive.

It also features a new interface that's kind of smart-phone-ish, and you can switch between apps and games really quickly like a smart-phone (yesh! the old PSP was so slow at this).

Here are a bunch of photos of the device:

And there are some videos here:
The second video on the page is probably the coolest, as it shows a bunch of game demos and some cool augmented reality capabilities of the system.

The 3rd video focuses on Little Deviants, a game where you push on the back touch pad to push up the ground within the game to roll the characters around. Looks pretty fun.

On my lunch break I decided to go to Half Price Books, which is pretty much my favorite store currently. I love searching for bizarre and rare things, and today I made a pretty big score. When I was walking through the music section, I noticed a familiar character looking at me from within the laserdisc section. I don't have a laserdisc player, so I never go over there, but upon a second look, I noticed it was Madoka from Kimagure Orange Road. I gasped and grabbed it swiftly and started examining it closely. At first I thought it might be bootleg, but it appears to be a legitimate import laserdisc for the Shin Kimagure Orange Road movie. It's relatively large (about an inch thick), containing the movie on laserdisc, a mini-booklet with screencaps and sketch artwork from the movie, along with a soundtrack called "Shin KOR Vocal Collection", which has songs on it I've never heard before. It also has room for 3 more Shin KOR soundtracks, to complete a collection.

Anyway Half Price had the thing for $6, and on the back of the box it said it retailed for 12,800 yen! I was able to find it for sale on some obscure website, and they are charging $86 for it.

This one I found at Half Price is in mint condition, so I'm pretty ecstatic right now. :P

For those who don't know, Kimagure Orange Road is to anime what Disgaea is to video games for me.

North Texas had a light show last night that was more impressive than any fireworks display I've ever seen, haha. My friend and I did the most logical thing to do when thunder storms are bombarding the area, we went out to the biggest nearby lake so we could stand out in the open with tripods and cameras to take photos. Fortunately we were pretty far away from the storms (they were probably 30-50 miles away), so we weren't in any danger, and it was completely clear above us. It was quite a surreal and awesome night. A comfortable 62º, millions of stars above our heads, and some of the biggest rolling thunder storms I've ever seen across a serene lake vista.

So a new Atlus game is coming to DS featuring Yoko Shimomura music, and I want to see if this blog embedding thing will work, haha.

Doh, it didn't work. Man the soundtrack is awesome so far (if you go to the wallpapers/blogparts section you can see the embed music player script.
It actually brings a tear to my eye.

I just got an early Christmas present from one of my friends, an Eviltron. Essentially it's tiny electronic device that's designed to hide really well (even has a magnet for hiding behind/under metal objects). It has various noises that it will periodically make every 2 to 8 minutes, such as a small child laughing, a whispering voice saying "are you there?", scratching sounds, and a couple others. I've seen another object like this in the past called the Annoy-a-tron, and it works quite well. The noises are so infrequent that it's almost impossible to find unless it goes off right next to where you're looking.

It's pretty funny, except it's too loud and has no volume control. I'm going to have to muffle it somehow because it's just not scary if it's super loud. Dunno which one of my roommates I'll use it on first... hmmmmmmmm.

Is Livejournal glitching or something. I keep getting messages that people are receiving virtual gifts like crazy, some snowflake thing. I had zero messages yesterday I believe, and I had 30 of them today. I just deleted all the messages and when i refresh the page, they're all back. This is madness!
